The initiative from the tech-cluster (a business network organized by Kalmar Science Park) emerged in 2019 to create an “IT conference” in Kalmar, Sweden. The Covid-19 pandemic intervened, and the idea had to be set aside. At the end of 2021, the idea resurfaced, and discussions were held between the EU projects DigiBusiness 2.0 and eHealthArena regarding the feasibility of hosting an IT conference in 2022.
Both projects work with companies focusing on digital development, aligned with the goals of their respective projects. Additionally, a similar initiative had not occurred in Kalmar County for several years, and the Småland region harbors a substantial number of tech companies.
As TechHeads 2022 was organized for the first time, the conference was seen as a learning experience, hence the relatively few goals:
- Focus on digital development concerning programming languages, methods, and trends within the field.
- Feature speakers with connections to the region.
- Host two parallel tracks with different focuses.
- Conduct the conference entirely in English to promote inclusivity based on the tech industry’s landscape.
- Engage partner companies willing to participate in the TechHeads 2022 process.
- Target 200 attendees, including 20% from outside Kalmar County and 10% students.
Target Audience
Individuals within organizations and companies actively involved in various forms of digital development. This includes system developers (both frontend and backend), database developers, app developers, system architects, project managers, testers, and UX designers. IT managers interested in staying updated on current trends and their applicability to their operations are also part of the target audience.
